The Minister for Local governments Rtd col. Tom Butime has pledged to engage districts local governments to recruit African Rural University graduates as Community Development Officers (CDOs) given the skills attained which he says it is what government needs to facilitate development especially in rural areas.

Minister Butime made the assurance from a point that African Rural University has got a  unique model for transforming rural areas. He said that the model has  proved to have awakened communities in Kagadi,Kibaale and Kakumiro districts adding that graduates should not only enclave in greater Kibaale region but also to the rest of Uganda.

Butime was speaking as the guest of hour at the 3rd graduation ceremony for African Rural University at ARU campus, in Kagadi town council Kagadi district.

Hon. Butime pledged to discuss with all district local governments in the country starting with  his home district Kyenjojo, to ensure that other districts in the country also tap on this opportunity that ARU is giving to the county.

The Colorful function was graced by founder of ARU and CEO URDT Dr. Mwalimu Musheshe Senior Ashoka Fellow, Vice Chancellor ARU Prof. Joseph Mukiibi, ARU Council members led by the Chairman Hon. Joyce Mpanga, the University Tradition Wisdom Specialists, Political and technical staff for Kagadi Kibaale and Kakumiro districts,  Local Council 3 Chairpersons of different sub counties, greater Kibaale district, religious leaders among others.
