On November 1, 2024, the Director of Research and Publication at African Rural University (ARU) disseminated findings from the study on “The Impact of Modern Technology on Photographic Memory, Evidence from African Rural University Students. The event brought together students, faculty, and community members to discuss findings that shed light on how technology influences cognitive functions, particularly photographic memory.

The research examined the evolving role of technology among ARU Students, where digital devices and online resources are increasingly becoming part of the educational process.

Key Findings

The study highlighted both positive and negative implications of technology on photographic memory. On one hand, it found that frequent exposure to digital screens and online resources can enhance visual learning, providing students with tools for better memory retention through repeated access to information. Conversely, there is evidence that over-reliance on technology may reduce the natural capacity for memory recall, as digital devices often serve as external memory aids, potentially impacting the development of a robust photographic memory.
