It is designed to empower early-career researchers in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania through open science practices.

Speaking at the launch, Andy Nobes, Programme Specialist at INASP, praised ARU and URDT for their unique education and community transformation models. “One of the most powerful aspects of open research is that sharing your work helps you own it people will reference you as the rightful author,” Nobes emphasized. He encouraged ARU to strengthen its commitment to open science, noting that current enrollment in open research programs remains low compared to other partner institutions.

Dr. Walter Odongo, another key INASP member, challenged the younger generation with seven powerful words: “Publicize yourself and be present in the digital space.” He stressed that visibility and active engagement in digital platforms are critical for today’s researchers.
