African Rural University (ARU) has emerged victorious at the 4th Cycle of the Zairi International Awards for Excellence in Higher Education (2024–2025), receiving the Award of Excellence for Outstanding Non-Profit Contribution to the Community.
The announcement was made today in Dubai, where ARU’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mwalimu Musheshe, received the award alongside Ms Prossy Musheshe and ARU Academic Registrar, Mr. Lwanga Anthony Claret.
This recognition comes after a highly competitive selection process involving applications from higher education institutions across 34 countries. ARU stood out for its innovative approach to rural development, community empowerment, and transformative education, earning a spot among the top institutions worldwide.
During the awards ceremony, Dr. Musheshe participated as a panelist under the theme; “Universities as Architects of Global Good: Rethinking Higher Education’s Purpose and Impact.” ARU was celebrated alongside other distinguished nominees, including Beirut Arab University (BAU), Lebanon, and American International University, Kuwait.
The Zairi International Awards by United Arab Emirates government honor higher education institutions that demonstrate excellence, innovation, and meaningful impact across six key categories.
This milestone adds another prestigious accolade to ARU’s growing legacy of excellence and global recognition.
