African Rural University library provides a variety of services to support and meet the information needs of students, researchers and staff members of the University and general Public. The Library provides the following services:

Circulation services. All members/users are authorized to borrow from the library both print and non-print materials.

Reader Services. All library users are oriented on various aspects of library resources, facilities and services. They are also allowed to have question and answer sessions with library staff of their choice. Users are also helped with guidance on how to read a book or any material with ease.

Reference services. A library user who needs assistance may contact any staff or make an appointment with a librarian in charge of reference services. Such a user can be assisted on matters regarding use of the library (including use of the online catalog), research assistance, citation management (writing and citing), generating references using software, searching techniques, access to online databases and online journals among many other areas of need.

Remote access services. Library users who have no opportunity of reaching the campus library physically shall be encouraged to access materials off-campus by borrowing materials available in community resource centers. Only students and staff can alternatively benefit from the inter-library loan services.

ICT and internet services. All users shall be helped in using ICT tools and internet to research and learn using technology.

Digital archiving and institutional repository services. The library shall help users to preserve, archive and publish their research works. Metadata and large sets of data shall be kept and author rights shall be respected while preserving author’s work in the institutional repository.
