On June 26, 2025, ARU student Leoba Rose, under the mentorship of Epicentre Manager Twikirize Oliver, facilitated an engaging Community Action Planning session in Rubona Village, Rutete Subcounty. The activity attracted over 50 community members, who actively participated in identifying their development aspirations, rather than simply focusing on immediate needs.
Through this participatory process, the community’s aspirations were further crystallized into Fundamental, Primary, and Secondary Choices, forming the foundation of their Structural Tension Chart (STC). These choices help the community acknowledge their current reality in relation to their Primary Choice (Vision) and outline practical steps to close the gap.
Healthcare Accessibility emerged as the community’s Primary Choice, marking it as the most critical area to focus on for meaningful transformation.
Additionally, Night Theopista from ARU’s Community Engagement Office engaged the community in a powerful reflection on self-reliance and mindset change, encouraging them to take ownership of their development journey rather than waiting for politicians or external handouts.
