African Rural University partners with a number of institutions both locally and internationally, and is involved with others through its founders, Uganda Rural Development & Training Programme.

ARU has functional partnerships governed by Memoranda of Understanding with Local Governments where the students undertake practical projects working with communities as social laboratories.

African Food and Peace Foundation

African Food and Peace Foundation is a United States Based nonprofit organization whose sole purpose is to support the various programs at URDT and African Rural University. The organization has supported ARU since its initiation and its major roles are Fundraising, Training, Education, Research, Development and Networking. Ugandan Universities Quality Assurance Forum (UUQAF)

Quality Assurance Officers in Ugandan Universities and other Degree awarding Institutions came together to form an association to contribute towards promotion of quality higher education in Uganda.

African Rural University which also subscribes to the forum was represented in the 9th Meeting of the UUQAF by Professor David Kenneth Atim a meeting which was held at Busoga University (Eastern Uganda) on 11th November 2011.
