The  Office of Academic Registrar-African Rural University (ARU) is thrilled to usher in a new cohort of students as they embark on their academic journey with us. To all the newly selected students, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and a warm welcome to the ARU family. As you prepare to take your first steps into the realm of higher education, ARU is committed to ensuring that your transition to campus life is seamless and enriching.

As part of this transition, we have meticulously planned and executed a comprehensive one-week orientation program, which ran from September 4th, 2023, to September 9th, 2023. This orientation week was carefully designed to acquaint new students with various facets of university life and to provide invaluable insights into the ARU Model Education.

A Week of Discovery

Starting your university journey can be both exciting and overwhelming. To make this transition more manageable, ARU has always set aside an entire week dedicated solely to orientation. During this period, you will have the opportunity to:

1. Get Acquainted with University Policies and Procedures

Understanding the policies and procedures of the university is crucial to ensuring a successful and fulfilling academic experience. Our orientation program will provide you with a comprehensive overview of ARU’s rules and regulations.

2. Discover Daily University Activities

Learn about the rhythm of daily life at ARU. From attending classes to participating in extracurricular activities, we will guide you through the various activities that make up your student life.

3. Grasp the ARU Model Education

ARU is committed to a unique educational model tailored towards   rural transformation. Our orientation will introduce you to this innovative approach to education, which is at the core of our institution’s mission.

4. Transition Smoothly to University Life

Moving away from home and adjusting to university life can be challenging. We’re here to support you during this transition, offering guidance and resources to help you settle in comfortably.

5. Meet Senior University Officials

As part of the orientation, you will have the opportunity to meet and interact with senior officials of the university. This includes our Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics and Student Affairs), Executive Deans of Faculty, and other key university personnel.

6. Explore Campus Facilities and Amenities

ARU provides a conducive learning environment with state-of-the-art facilities and amenities. During orientation, you will be introduced to essential locations on campus, including:

• Academic facilities such as libraries, lecture theatres, laboratories, and the university bookstore.
• Welfare facilities covering medical services, counseling, accommodation options, Yoga Room, catering services, and recreational areas.
• Opportunities to engage in social activities, join clubs, and participate in various student societies and initiatives.

Faculty-Based Orientation

To ensure that you receive the most relevant information for your academic journey, our orientation program is primarily faculty-based. This means that you will delve into the specifics of your chosen field of study, guided by faculty members who are experts in their respective disciplines.

Joining the Welcome Address

To officially kick off your university experience, we invite you to attend Foundational Course every morning  featuring our staff including  esteemed Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor ,the  Deans of Faculty, and other key university officials. This gathering will provide you with an opportunity to get to know ARU Programmes and leadership.
