Professors without Borders giving  their opening remarks at the Workshop

African Rural University (ARU) and Professors without Borders, a UK-based non-governmental organization dedicated to enhancing equitable access to quality education, have embarked on  a two-week Training Program for Students and Staff at ARU. This initiative represents a continuation of previous successful exchange programs between ARU and Professors without Borders. The current Training Program, led by Professor Naheed Ali Sayeed, PhD, RD, CDN, FAND, a Professor at D’Youville University, and Dr. Akbar Saeed, a Professor in the Business Department at Wilfrid Laurier University, aims to foster collaborative learning and skill development.

The program officially commenced on August 8, 2023, at the Foundational Course at ARU. Dr. Akbar Saeed, Team Lead of Professors without Borders, expressed his delight at returning to African Rural University and emphasized that the training sessions would prioritize active participation, encouraging engagement and interaction among participants.

Over the course of the two-week exchange program, facilitators, ARU staff, and students will delve into various topics centered around Community-Based Participatory Action Research and Nutrition. The program’s curriculum is designed to empower attendees with practical knowledge and insights that can be applied to real-world scenarios, aligning with ARU ‘ unique model of providing transformative   education within the African Context.
